A Big Step

 J took 4 steps last night!

It was the most incredible thing - He had figured out how to crawl backwards about an hour before, so (of course) it became a wonderful game of scooting backwards all over the wood floors downstairs.  He scooted himself backwards towards where I was sitting on the floor, grinning and giggling the whole way, then pushed himself up against the wall across from me and stood on his hands and knees in a handstand/somersault setup kind of position.

Then he pushed himself upright, got his balance, and stood for a few seconds, just grinning at me in total pride while I gasped and called Andrew over to look.  And then he just walked 4 steps like he’s been doing it forever!  It was incredible!

He kept practicing the rest of the evening, all big smiles and big laughs despite a lot of falls.  L was encouraging him and cheering him along the whole time, not an ounce of jealousy at all even though J was the center of everyone’s attention.  She was just as excited as we were, using “her” phone (an old iPhone I fixed for her to play games on) to take pictures and videos of her brother’s new milestone.

It was such a sweet moment for our family.
